OUTDOOR COMPUTER CLUB

The Datafoire is a network and also a physical space for sharing data, outside the Internet. The datafoire is a booth, a shed, a laptop on a table under an umbrella. The datafoire sits in a park, on a town market, inside a library, at a party. The datafoire is a place where we can have a drink, talk, listen together. Its a place where human advices replaces algorythmic recommandation, where we bring and collect data close to our hearts. Where the quality of the file is not related to its size but to the affective charge it channels.
In the datafoire network, the data travels at the speed of human legs, outside of systems of surveillance and filter bubbles. The datafoire aims to create human scaled spaces for data sharing, it hopes to break globalism induced by the world wide web and recreate data localism and community shaped kilobytes.

The first data foire was built in 2023 and deployed during a party in le Bois de Vincennes. People came with usb keys filled with music, movies, texts, images, folders of things ordered hectically and named with love. The datafoire was powered by two Uber e-bike batteries and lasted for 8 hours, after that the data dissapeared from the booth and traveled in the participant's pockets filled with usb sticks.

The second datafoire happened during a workshop at Erg, where we took some time to reflect and improve the concept, and give away the core principles so other datafoire could appear averywhere and create a network of networks.
